People Operations and Payroll Process Specialist

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with a colleague and external partners to ensure the smooth and timely execution of our monthly payroll. You’ll ensure smooth and compliant operations, while also improving workflows in our core HR system, AFAS. Payroll is your first priority, but you’ll also be a key player in broader People Operations topics – from employee administration to reporting and audits.

Your impact

• Run the monthly payroll process with our external partners

• Process, check, and deliver payroll changes in AFAS

• Be the go-to person for payroll-related questions from colleagues and managers

• Ensure compliance with local legislation, GDPR, and internal policies

• Spot issues and suggest improvements in payroll and HR processes

• Optimize AFAS workflows and support with configuration/testing

• Manage HR administration for onboarding, changes, and offboarding

• Deliver regular reports for Finance, HR, and audit purposes

• Keep documentation and work instructions up to date

• Work closely with internal teams (HR, Finance, Legal) and external vendors

• Support audits and conduct data checks

What skills will bring you to the top?

• 5+ years of experience in People Operations or Payroll

• Strong skills in AFAS (must-have); experience with configuration or testing is a plus

• Excellent attention to detail and admin skills

• Structured, process-oriented thinking

• Able to connect data, systems, and workflows

• Solid understanding of Dutch payroll legislation; European payroll knowledge is a bonus

• Strong Excel skills and reporting experience

• Communicates clearly and confidently in English (Dutch is a plus, not a must)

• Proactive, independent, teamplayer and ownership-driven
