Head of People Operations

In this pivotal role, you’ll be the strategic right hand to our Director of People, Organization & Culture (POC), responsible for delivering streamlined, compliant, and people-centric HR services across all our European offices. You’ll lead a team of six talented specialists, and ensure our People Operations function is both future-ready and aligned with our mission to be Europe’s most personal holiday provider.

Location: Rotterdam (Hybrid – 50% in-office)

Your Impact

As Head of People Operations, you’ll play a key role in shaping our day-to-day HR operations and long-term people strategy.

• Act as a strategic and operational advisor to the Director of POC.

• Lead, inspire, and develop a team of 6 specialists across People Operations, Payroll, Operational Excellence, and People Analytics.

• Oversee daily HR operations across multiple EU countries, ensuring compliance with local legislation and HR best practices.

• Manage payroll processes and strengthen relationships with external payroll providers.

• Own and evolve our HR policies, ensuring consistency, compliance, and clarity across the business.

• Drive continuous improvement in processes, systems, and employee services.

• Support and evolve our “Focus on You” employee wellbeing program.

• Represent Sunweb Group in ESG initiatives, with a focus on people and social impact.

• Support compensation and benefits benchmarking and strategy, if you bring relevant experience.

 What You Bring

• Proven experience (+4 years) in leading People Operations in a multi-country (preferably EU) context.

• Strong knowledge of HR compliance, payroll, and employment law across European jurisdictions.

• Experience with Compensation & Benefits is a strong plus.

• A strategic mindset with a hands-on, pragmatic approach.

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

• A passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement.

• Awareness of current HR trends and how they can be applied in a dynamic, international environment.
