Cloud Engineer AND Architect, we just couldn't choose. This position has the best of both worlds! Well... if you are looking for a position in which you are able to build a state-of-the-art cloud architecture. All this in an environment where you can fully use your development and engineering experience and where you are responsible from A to Z for various websites and applications. This is that job! 

 

What you will be doing as our Cloud Engineer... 

You support the development teams, system and cloud engineers and service desk in order to keep everything stable and cost-efficient. In this position, you will combine your designing, building, and supporting skills. The other part of your day you spend on designing and documenting our cloud architecture. You are always informed about the latest cloud techniques, guidelines, and best practices. This way you inspire your team, stimulate innovation and know what is best for Sunweb Group. 
 
This could mean that your day starts with troubleshooting why the Sunweb site was responding slower than usual. Later that morning you have a meeting with a development team, and help them deploy a website to Azure in order to prepare for the peak sales of Tomorrowland Winter. And in the afternoon you review and adjust the guidelines for disaster recovery, to take into account the latest innovations. 
 
Do you want ownership? You can own this... 

  • Design, build, manage and optimize our cloud environment. 
  • (Technically) Manage and support the external Cloud and System Engineers in their daily tasks. 
  • Support and participate in the software development teams for the cloud. 
  • Define guidelines and principles for the Sunweb Group cloud architecture and make sure they are embedded in the development teams. 
  • Help the development teams in adopting a DevOps mentality.
  • Keep the company up-to-date with the latest cloud techniques and Innovations. 

Requirements

You do need to have a background in Architecture and have a track record in a similar position. We got the basics right but you will take us to the next level. This is what you bring to the table to hit the ground running:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent through experience.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience working as a Systems or Cloud Engineer.
  • The Microsoft Azure platform has but little secrets for you.
  • You have experience with managing Windows Server 2016/2019, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • And knowing to script (PowerShell of Azure CLI) is also beneficial.

The team consists of eight, hard-working colleagues with a lot of technical knowledge and various areas of expertise. Our ideal new colleague has a healthy dose of enthusiasm and energy, a proactive attitude, and a critical eye for improvement.
Furthermore, you are loyal and have no problem working outside office hours or occasionally traveling abroad. We are an international company, so a good command of the English language is a must. An extra would be the Dutch or Spanish language.
